Mrs. Conrad (Etta) Fonken, 83, lifelong Kamrar area resident, died Tuesday evening at the Crestview Manor Convalescent Center. She had resided there the past two years, but had been in ill health the past nine months.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Presbyterian Church in Kamrar, with the Rev. Marvin L. Camp officiating and with burial in the Presbyterian cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Friday when it will be taken to the church.

Etta Catherine Hassebrock, daughter of George and Jennie Bunk [Bonk] Hassebrock, was born June 23, 1896 at Kamrar where she was reared and educated.

She was married Sept. 19, 1917, to Conrad Fonken and the couple had always farmed in the Kamrar community.

She was preceded in death Sept. 6, 1977 by her husband.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Rev. Lloyd Fonken of Pawnee City, Neb., Lester Fonken, Lee Fonken and Mrs. Dick (Linda) Woodall, all of Kamrar; 10 grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. George (Louise) Arends, Webster City; Mrs. Art (Jennie) Arends, Stanhope; Mrs. Elmer (Norma) Van Langen, Kamrar; Ralph Hassebrock of Jewell; Ted Hassebrock of Kamrar and a cousin, Henry Junker of Jewell, who was reared in the family home.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, her parents, two sisters and five brothers.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian church.
