Conrad Fonken, 81, life-long Kamrar resident, died Tuesday evening at Crestview Manor, where he had lived the past two weeks.

He had been in ill health the past 3 1/2 years.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Presbyterian church near Kamrar, with the Rev. Marvin L. Camp officiating. Burial will be in the Presbyterian cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Friday when it will be taken to the church.

Conrad Fonken, son of John and Harmke Rigter Fonken, was born Sept. 11, 1895 at Kamrar where he was reared and educated. He later attended college at Dubuque.

He was married Sept. 19, 1917, to Etta Hassebrock. The couple had always farmed in the Kamrar community.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter. They are the Rev. Lloyd Fonken, Pawnee City, Neb., Lester Fonken, Lee Fonken and Mrs. Dick (Linda) Woodall, all of Kamrar. He is also survived by ten grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, his parents, and one brother.

He was a member of the First United Presbyterian church at Kamrar and had served as trustee of the church. He had also served on the Elevator board and the School board at Kamrar.
