Mrs. Hilke Denekas, 74, a longtime Jewell area resident, died Monday evening at the Iowa Falls Care Center where she had resided since Jan. 1.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Loren E. Parman officiating and with burial at the Presbyterian cemetery near Kamrar.

Hilke Luppes, daughter of John and Engel Welp Luppes, was born July 4, 1901 at Kamrar. She was reared and educated in the Kamrar community.

She was united in marriage Sept. 9, 1924, to Robert O. Denekas, and the couple farmed in the Jewell-Williams community.

She is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Harmka Schaa of Jewell, Mrs. Sterling (Elsie) Nelson, Jewell and Mrs. Ed (Ollie) Denekas of Kamrar; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Johnnie J. Luppes; also two brothers and two sisters who died in infancy.

She was baptized in the Presbyterian faith.
