JEWELL - Harm Denekas, 90, longtime resident of the Jewell-Kamrar community, died Saturday at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian church in Kamrar with the Rev. Harold DeVries, assisted by the Rev. George Bever of Jewell, officiating. Burial will be in the Presbyterian cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Becker funeral home.

Mr. Denekas was born Aug. 19, 1870, in Illinois, coming to the Jewell-Kamrar vicinity when he was 11 years of age. He married Grace Ubben Aug. 19, 1896, and they farmed in this area until 18 years ago when he retired and moved into Jewell.

He was preceded in death by his wife; by one son, who died in infancy, and by his parents.

Surviving are the following son and daughters, Mrs. Henry Olson, Walter Denekas, Robert Denekas, Martin Denekas, and Leo Denekas, all of Jewell, Mrs. Larry Coffman and Mrs. Daniel Jacobson, both of Ames. Mrs. Glen Freyberger, [?], Ind., Mrs. Abner Swenson, Story City, Mrs. Gordon Hetland, Radcliffe, and Mrs. Belmont Hegland, Stanhope; 25 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
