Mrs. O. R. Denekas, 72, of Blairsburg, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at her home three miles south of Blairsburg. Her death was sudden, due to a heart attack.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian church east of Kamrar, preceded by a brief service at 1 p.m. at the family home.

The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until Wednesday morning when it will be taken to the family home. The Rev. August Cramer of Kamrar will officiate with burial at the Presbyterian cemetery.

Gertie Smid, daughter of Everett and Gertie Smid, was born March 1, 1881, on a farm northeast of Kamrar. She was reared and educated in the Kamrar community. She was united in marriage April 12, 1899 to Ocko R. Denekas, and the couple started farming in the Kamrar-Blairsburg community. They had lived on the present farm the past 16 years.

She is survived by her husband and two sons, Robert O. Denekas of Webster City, and Ed Denekas of Kamrar; one grandson, Pfc. Lester Denekas now stationed in Korea; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Tillie Hurst of Webster City, Mrs. Jim Greenfield of Blairsburg and Klaus Smid of West Union, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

A kindly, neighborly woman, Mrs. Denekas' main interests in life were always her home and her family.
