Miss Jennie DeGroot, 68, was born Oct. 5, 1897, at Blairsburg, daughter of Peter and Grace DeGroot. She was graduated from high school at Cedar Falls and from Drake University, Des Moines.

She taught school for many years, moving to Mason City in September, 1930, and teaching in the school system there until her retirement in 1962. She had taught at Lincoln school in Mason City where she was a sixth grade instructor.

Surviving are a brother, George DeGroot, Cedar Rapids; a sister, Mrs. O. L. (Dena) Gilbert of Valley View Village, Des Moines, and three nieces.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 13, at the Major Memorial Chapel in Mason City with Dr. George Truman Carl officiating. Burial was in the Presbyterian church cemetery at Kamrar.

Miss DeGroot was a member of the First Methodist church at Mason City.
