Webster City Journal, Thursday, March 16, 1911

Mrs. Simon DeGroot died in Kamrar Friday night of old age. Mrs. DeGroot was born in Germany and came to this country in 1881, living most of the time in Liberty township. She moved to Kamrar this month to make her home with the Simon Greenfield family, with whom she had made her home for many years. She was 83 years old. Her children are Simon DeGroot, Mrs. Simon Greenfield and Mrs. Harm Telkampt [or is it Telkamp]. She also leaves one brother, Hemme Troff. All living in this vicinity. The funeral took place at the Presbyterian church Monday, conducted by Rev. Mueller, of which church she was a member. [burial in the church cemetery]
