Mrs. Emil Weise, 65, Jewell, died Saturday at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Federated Church in Jewell with Clarence Roehr of Clifton, New Jersey and Joe Butler of Chicago officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Jewell.

Born July 24, 1905 in Wausau, Wisconsin, she graduated from the Wausau schools and from the Wausau Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was supervisor at Wausau Memorial Hospital and later moved to Minneapolis, Minn. where she worked in various hospitals.

She was a member of the Eighth District of Iowa Nurses Assn., and a member of the American Nurses Assn.

She was a school nurse at Jewell during the polio epidemic. As an association nurse for the Iowa blood bank, she had helped with Greek Week blood donation activities at Iowa State University.

She also was an industrial nurse at the Ellsworth turkey plant.

Mrs. Weise was a charter member of the Jewell Garden Club, and had served as State Litterbug Chairman of the National Federated Garden Clubs.

She was president of the Rural Workers and was instrumental in the establishment of the first Iowa Bird Sanctuary in the Jewell area.

She maintained membership in numerous health organizations.

Mrs. Weise belonged to the Plymouth Brethren Church.

Mrs. Weise was the daughter of Marie Marquardt Block and August Block.

On June 20, 1930, she was married to Emil Weise at Minneapolis and they have lived in the Jewell are since 1938.

Survivors include her husband, Emil; a daughter, Mrs. Jeanne Overton, Des Moines and a son, Staff Sgt. William Lee Weise, in the Air Force at Victorville, Calif; four grandchildren; a brother, Herman J. Block, Minneapolis and four sisters, Mrs. Alma Schoen and Mrs. Ella Hanson, both of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Erna Wurz, Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Louise Weise, Auburn, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Emily M. who died in infancy Jan. 27, 1942 and a sister, Marie Heuss.

Mrs. S. C. Thompson served as organist at the funeral services. Jason McCoskey, Lester Hinderaker, Alvern Ellwood and Dwayne Nessa sang accompanied on the piano by Darrell Klaver.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Vaubel, Leonard Caruth, Reinder Mamminga, Alvin Van Langen, Richard Mortenson and Bob Sharer.
