Clare Grove, 70, died Saturday evening at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames. He had just been admitted to the hospital about noon following a heart attack suffered at his home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Federated Church of Christ with the Rev. Carl Dille officiating and with burial in the Homewood Cemetery at Ellsworth. The body will lie in state at the Becker Funeral home in Jewell until 1 p.m.

Clare Grove, son of Willard and Ella Grove, was born Jan. 14, 1899, in Story county. He had always since lived in the Jewell community, having farmed for many years before retiring and moving into Jewell. He was married Feb. 24, 1921 at the Methodist church in Webster City to Blanche June Oakes, and the couple started farming near Jewell.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Merle Grove of near Ellsworth and Duane Grove of Jewell; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Harvey Grove of Williams and Roy Grove of Jewell; and two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Knapp of Des Moines and Mrs. Elva Nielson of Jewell.

He was a member of the Federated church at Jewell.
