Lloyd Tuchek, age 80, of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2005 at the United Church of Christ in Jewell with Rev. Bob Williams to officiate. Burial will follow at Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth. Memorial gifts may be given to the Ronald McDonald House or the University of Iowa Heart Failure Research Fund. Becker Funeral Home in Jewell was entrusted with arrangements.

Lloyd Henry Tuchek was born May 23, 1924 in Cresco to Joseph and Esther (Ferrie) Tuchek. He grew up in the Cresco area, graduating from Cresco High School in 1943. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army during World War Two in the South Pacific. On August 14, 1948 Lloyd married Gerry Leas in Cresco. They came to Ellsworth on July 4, 1964. Lloyd worked at the Thompson Hatchery as a supervisor, retiring in 1988. Lloyd was a member of the United Church of Christ in Jewell and the American Legion Post in Cresco. Lloyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, feeding and watching birds and squirrels, but most of all, spending time with family and friends.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, R. Geraldine of Ellsworth, two daughters, Mary Beth (Jerri) Grove and Kathleen R. (Brian) Eittreim, both of Ellsworth; a son James Lee Tuchek of Jewell; five grandchildren, Michael (Julie) Grove, Laura Grove, Amy Eittreim (Jason) Becker, Krista Eittreim and Kelly Eittreim, two great grandsons, Quinton and Landon Grove; a brother, David Tuchek and sister, Ruth Tuchek both of Cresco; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John, Joseph [and the rest of the obituary is unreadable].
