Gary Hanson, 62, Stanhope, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 1.30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope, with Rev. Marvin Dooley officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Foster Funeral Home and after 12 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Gary Joe Hanson, the son of Orin and Arlene (Read) Hanson, was born Aug. 19, 1937, at Webster City. He was a graduate of Stanhope High School. On Sept. 7, 1958, he married LaVonne Lucille Luppes at Kamrar. The couple resided in Boone, Ames, and then in Stanhope, where they moved in 1964. Mr. Hanson was employed at Traffic Marketing Service in Stanhope. Mrs. Hanson died in June of 1997.

Mr. Hanson is survived by: one son, Mike Hanson of Stanhope; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Mario Ysaiz of Stanhope; grandchildren, Cody, Macie and Tasha Ysaiz, all of Stanhope; a sister-in-law, Pat Hanson of Webster City; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hanson was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jay Hanson.

He was a member of the Stanhope Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
