Elvin Risetter, 73, Jewell, died Monday, Sept. 17 at the Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City. Funeral services are Friday, Sept. 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell. Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. this evening at the church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The Becker Funeral Home of Jewell was in charge of arrangements.

Elvin Risetter, son of Alfred and Alice (Reisetter) Risetter, was born Aug. 7, 1917, on a farm near Radcliffe. He was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Lutheran Church in Radcliffe, and was a lifelong Hamilton County resident.

He married Marie Sexe on Oct. 16, 1939, at the church parsonage in Jewell. The couple farmed, and Mr. Risetter was also a livestock buyer and owner/operator of Risetter Pack, and Jewell Oil Co.

He is survived by his wife, Marie, Jewell; two sons, Wayne Risetter, Ellsworth, and James Risetter, Webster City; a daughter, Marelyn Wicks, Jewell; two brothers, Burnith Risetter, Story City, and Glenn Risetter, Radcliffe; a sister, Laura Handeland, Radcliffe; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Atlee, Allan and Leo; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Risetter was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church, where he was a trustee and a member of the Call Committee; he was parade marshall for the Jewell Jubilee; was a member of the Story City Hospital Board; Jewell Housing Board; the Board of Directors of the Jewell Golf and Country Club; he had served on the Jewell School Board; was the first Cub Scout leader in Jewell; was a charter member of the Jewell Lions Club, where he served as president for two terms; and was a member of the Iowa Oil Jobbers Association and the Iowa Meat Locker Association.
