LeRoy Burgin, 81, Webster City, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at his home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral Home.

LeRoy William Burgin, son of William and Guendola Cox Burgin, was born Nov. 14, 1921 at Iowa Falls. He received his education from the Iowa Falls Community Schools. LeRoy moved to Webster City in 1939, where he farmed south of Webster City. On July 12, 1942, he married Zelpha E. Flowers at Kahoka, Mo. The couple continued farming. In 1984, the couple moved to Webster City.

Mr. Burgin is survived by his wife, Zelpha, three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Charlene Burgin of South Carolina, Gary and Rolanda Burgin, Rick and Denise Burgin, all of Webster City; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Doug Burtnett also of Webster City, 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Milton McGill, Sally and Derrald Bauer, all of Centerville, Wanda and Robert Shaeffer of Portage, Wis., brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Eleanor Burgin, Centerville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Troy Burgin, and a brother in infancy, Douglas Burgin.

Mr. Burgin was a member of the Church of Christ, Farm Bureau and the Master Pork Producers. He was also a member of the United Co-op of Webster City for many years. LeRoy's hobbies included vegetable gardening, where he specialized in onions and tomatoes. He attended the state fair for over 30 years, where he enjoyed camping with his grandchildren.
