Donna Carpenter, 63, Webster City, died Friday, Jan 7, 2000 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm. Tuesday at the Church of Christ with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m Monday and after 11 am Tuesday at the church.

Donna Rae Stemsrud, daughter of Clinton and Ruth Cole Stemsrud, was born January 8, 1936, at Webster City. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City in 1954. She worked at McGilligan's Restaurant, then moved to Waukegan, IL., and worked at Abbott Laboratories. On April 15, 1955, she married Albert M. Carpenter at Waukegan. The couple resided in Waukegan. Following Mr. Carpenter's discharge from the military, the couple moved to Webster City. She started working as legal secretary for the Lund Law office in 1956. In 1991, she started her own accounting services. She had also served as director of the Veteran's Affairs for five years.

She is survived by her husband, Albert, sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Melanie Carpenter, Norwalk, Keith and Michelle Carpenter of Webster City, Chris and Brenda Carpenter of Clarion, grandchildren, Greg, Jammie, Phillip, David and Chrystal Carpenter, parents Clinton and Ruth Stemsrud of Webster City, brothers, Dennis Stemsrud of Las Cruces, NM., Randy Stemsrud, Indianola, sister, Cheryll Entriken, Webster City; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Brian J Carpenter in 1982, and daughter, Lorinda K. Carpenter, 1988.

She was a member of the Church of Christ, a Sunday school teacher, past president of the Women's Fellowship and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary.
