Ruth Stemsrud, 87, of Webster City, died Monday, March 1, 2004 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ, with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. at the church.

Ruth Beatrice Cole, daughter of John and Hannah Pierson Cole was born on Dec. 25, 1916 on a farm in Worth County, Iowa. She graduated from Lincoln High at Webster City in 1934. On September 3, 1935, she married Clinton Burger Stemsrud at Austin, Mn. The couple resided at Webster City. She was employed at Morton's Frozen Foods, Hahne's Printing, Farm Journal and Peeds Publishing. Mr. Stemsrud died February 21, 2001.

Mrs. Stemsrud is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Bobbeye Stemsrud of Las Cruces, N.M., Randy and Shari Stemsrud of Indianola; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and David Entriken of Webster City, son-in-law, Albert Carpenter of Webster City; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Ollie Cook of Glenville, MN., Frances Hanson of Portland, OR., Clarice Markwardt of Webster City and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Clinton, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Donna Carpenter; grandchildren, Brian and Lori Carpenter and two brothers and sisters.

She was a member of the Church of Christ where she was active in womens fellowship and other church circles. She was a former volunteer at Crestview Manor and delivered Meals on Wheels.
