Mrs. Oscar (Hazel) Fitzlaff, 56, longtime Webster City resident, died Friday evening at the Hamilton County hospital where she had been a patient for two days and in ill health for several years.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Marvin L. Camp officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Hazel Grace Urich, daughter of Amos Benton and Laura Stone Urich, was born Nov. 22, 1915 at Webster City where she was reared and educated.

She was united in marriage Sept. 5, 1932 to Archie James Downs, and with the exception of two years, the couple had always resided in Webster City until Mr. Downs' death in 1944.

She was married May 7, 1945 to Oscar Clinton Fitzlaff, and the couple made their home in Webster City where Mrs. Fitzlaff was employed by Nissen's for 18 years.

She is survived by her husband; one son and one daughter, Arthur James Downs of Webster City, Mrs. Elton (Deloris) Tempel of Kamrar; eight grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters, William Urich, Clear Lake, Earl Urich, Prescott, Ariz., Mrs. Carroll (Mabel) Van Doren of Webster City, Mrs. Fred (Amy) Cartee, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Elmer (Gladys) Heslop of Las Cruces, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Marion, who died in infancy.
