Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Foster funeral home for Archie Downs, 34, former Webster City resident, who died suddenly Sunday evening at the hospital in Sonoma, Cal., from double pneumonia. He had been ill only two days.

The Rev. J. T. Stewart will officiate, burial in Graceland cemetery.

Archie James Downs, son of Robert and Hattie Downs, was born Oct. 23, 1920, at Sullivan, Ill. As a small child he came with his parents to Iowa, and the family located at Webster City. He attended the schools here and for seven years was employed by the Nissen Packing company.

Sept. 5, 1932, he was married to Hazel Urich. In 1942 they moved to Winters, Cal., and Mr. Downs was employed by the Dried Fruit company. They later went to El Verano, Cal., and he worked in the shipyards there. Mrs. Downs and children were visiting in Webster City when they received word of his death and had planned to return to California, Nov. 15.

Besides his wife, Mr. Downs is survived by one son, Arthur James, II, and a daughter, Dolores, 9; also his parents, seven sisters and one brother, Mrs. Nellie Adams of Webster City; Mrs. Claude Cooley of Knoxville; Mrs. Cecil Lovelace of this city; Mrs. Lloyd Fortune and Mrs. Cuba Jacobsen of Waterloo; Mrs. Harold Pohlman, Mrs. Clarence Bates and Robert Downs, all of this city.
