Florence Wing, 79, Des Moines, a former Kamrar resident, died of lung cancer Wednesday, March 14, at the home of her daughter, Rev. Cheryl Gelner, Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 17, at the Des Moines Highland Park Christian Church. Burial was in the Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines. The Merle Hay Funeral Home of Des Moines was in charge of arrangements.

Florence Lucille Goodell, daughter of Orlo F. Goodell and E. Blanche Goodell Echelberger, was born April 18, 1910, in Spencer. She attended schools in Gowrie and Fort Dodge before her parents moved to Kamrar. She married Clarence Wing on Feb. 11, 1931. The couple resided on the Goodman Wing farm south of Kamrar. They farmed near Galt, then moved to Kamrar, where they owned and operated a grocery store. The couple moved to Des Moines in 1941, where Mrs. Wing worked for many years in a Ben Franklin store.

She is survived by three daughters, Rev. Cheryl Gelner, Des Moines; Joyce Kinzel, River Falls, Wis.; and Dr. Diane Mehling, Parker Colo., two brothers, Bill Echelberger and Bob Echelberger, both of Kamrar; two sisters, Virginia Anderson, Spirit Lake; and Zola Baker, Des Moines; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother and a sister.

Mrs. Wing was a member of the Highland Park Christian Church of Des Moines, and for 15 years, worked at Camp Quest, a summer camp for handicapped children at Lake Okoboji.
