William H. Greufe, 68, longtime resident of the Blairsburg community, died at 3 a.m. Monday at the Hamilton county hospital where he had been a patient the past two weeks. He had been in ill health since April.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams. The Rev. H. P. Nosbisch will officiate and burial will be in the Calvary Catholic cemetery at Webster City.

Military services will be held at the cemetery. Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster funeral home.

William Henry Greufe, son of Bernard and Mary Greufe, was born Jan. 19, 1894 on a farm near Montrose, Mo., and was reared and educated in that community. He later moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he resided for five years. He then entered the armed forces during World War I and served overseas.

After his discharge from service, he returned to Montrose, Mo., where he was united in marriage Sept. 16, 1924, to Frances M. Engelhart. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Greufe moved to Iowa, locating on a farm near Blairsburg. They had always since farmed in the Blairsburg community and for the past 22 years had resided on their farm one mile north of Blairsburg.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and three sons: Mrs. Neil (Mary Ann) McCoy of Oakland, Calif., Norman Greufe of Duncombe and Vernon Greufe and William D. Greufe, both of Blairsburg, and Barbara Greufe, at home. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren; eight brothers and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, who died in infancy.

Mr. Greufe was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church at Williams and was also a member of the American Legion post at Williams.
