Taken from a scrapbook compiled by Lois Elaine Anderson Thompson that is located at the Ellsworth Library, Ellsworth, Iowa

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran church for Mrs. Julia Peterson, 72, lifelong resident of Ellsworth.

Mrs. Peterson died Friday, January 19, 1960, at the Story City hospital where she had been a patient the past five months. She had been ill the past year and nine months.

The Rev. O.D. Sanderson officiated at the services. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery.

Julia Lyders, daughter of O.M. Lyders and Lena Sexe Lyders, was born in Ellsworth on September 10, 1887. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and a life member of the Bethesda Mission Society.

She was united in marriage to Clarence L. Peterson February 24, 1909, and the couple had always since lived in the Ellsworth area. Mr. Peterson preceded her in death in 1958.

Survivors include six children: Orval Peterson of Ellsworth; Carol Peterson of State College, PA; Virgil Peterson of Des Moines; Mrs. Virgie Candor of San Diego, CA; Lavon Peterson of Radcliffe and Wilbur Peterson of Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Oscar Lyders, Fremont, Neb.; Matthew Lyders, Pittsford, N.Y.; and Kenneth Lyders of Long Beach, CA; two sisters, Mrs. C.A. Owenson of Long Beach and Mrs. M.J. Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Hubert Tyler, Delmar Hill, Sigvold Holt, Vernon Peterson, Alvern Hill and Elston Danielson.
