Clarence L. Peterson, 70, died April 8, 1958, at his home in Ellsworth after an illness of ten months. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran church in Ellsworth with the Rev. Sanderson officiating and burial was in the Greenwood cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Jesse Hill, Albert Hill, Randolph Kallem, Calvin Crawford, Orm Danielson and Fred Peterson; the pallbearers were Dwayne Hill, Arnold Sheldahl, Arlen Dahl, Vernon Peterson, Thomas Thompson and Lloyd Swenson.
Clarence Lorenzo Peterson was born January 3, 1888 at Ellsworth, the son of Peter H. and Inger Bergeson Peterson. He was married February 24, 1909 to Julia Lyders, daughter of O.M. and Lene (Sexe) Lyders, who survives him, as do their six children.
Mr. Peterson had lived for 63 years in the Ellsworth vicinity, and for two years in Popejoy and five years at Williams. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church and he served as a deacon for many years.
Surviving are their children, Orval Peterson of Ellsworth, Carol Peterson of State College, PA., Virgil Peterson of Des Moines, Virgie Peterson Candor of San Diego, CA., Lavon Peterson of Radcliffe and Wilbur Peterson of Washington, D.C.; also a sister, Malina Buckels of Oxford, Iowa and eight grandchildren.
Among relatives who were here for the funeral of C.L. Peterson Friday were: Mrs. Melvin Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo., who came Thursday for a week with her sister, Mrs. Peterson, Mrs. Ed Jacobson of St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Reuben Strand of Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Robert Guiding of Alton, Ill.; Mrs. A.T. Buckels and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Zimmerman of Oxford, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Buckels of Lakota, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lyders of Fremont, Neb., Tec. Sgt. Wilbur Peterson left Tuesday for his base at Washington, D.C. after spending some time with his parents. Carol Peterson left on Thursday for her duties at State College, PA. after being here with her parents. Mrs. Wylie Candor is still here helping her mother, Mrs. Peterson.
