Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, March 14, 1971 at 2 o'clock at Trinity Lutheran Church here for Wesley T. Thoreson who passed away Thursday, March 11th at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames where he was a patient four days.

Pastor R.D. Ehlers officiated with Beckers in charge and military rites were held at the graveside in Homewood Cemetery.

Mrs. Dwayne Hill was organist and accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Harris Twedt, Jr. as they sang a duet and Homer Danielson sang a solo.

Pallbearers were James L. Gary of Coleridge, Neb., Willard Hanson, Dwayne Hill, Milo Knutson, Emery Tegland and Willie Thoreson.

Wesley Thoreson was born October 7, 1914 in Ellsworth, the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Thoreson. He received his schooling in Ames and the family moved here in time for him to graduate with the class of 1933. He was a naval Aviator during World War II and later served as a coach at George, Iowa and in South Dakota. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Chris Christenson Post of the American Legion.

Mr. Thoreson was united in marriage October 17, 1948 to Mary Kay Ricketts and the couple resided in Des Moines for a short time before moving to Ellsworth where he has operated a hardware store for the past 19 years.

He is survived by his wife, two children, Wesley, Jr., a student at Mankato State College and one daughter, Jennifer, at home. Also five sisters, Mrs. Edward (Hazel) Sorenson of Ames, Mrs. Laurene McMahon of Des Moines, Mrs. Mamie Hamilton of Ohio, Mrs. Raymond (Florence) Powell of Winter Haven, Fla; and Mrs. Jasper (Anna) Jacobson of Mason City, also one brother, Leo of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Curtis L. who died in 1966.
