Ona Dahl Thoreson, age 89, died August 26, 1998 at Bradenton, Florida. She was born June 27, 1909 in Ellsworth, Iowa to Joseph P. and Alice Hill Dahl. She graduated from St. Olaf College in 1931, undertook a teaching career and taught in Ellsworth and Waterman, Illinois until her marriage to Curtis L. Thoreson in 1940. She was then a homemaker and farmed with her husband until their move to Palmetto, Florida in 1964. Following the death of her husband, she returned to teaching, retiring at the age of 80.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 1998 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth with the Rev. Michael Herschberger officiating. Interment will follow at Homewood Cemetery. Hamilton Funeral Home is in charge of local services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth or the Ellsworth Historical Society.

Mrs. Thoreson is survived by her 3 sons and their families: Steven and his wife, Colleen, children Holly and Andrew, Bradenton, Florida; Stewart C. and his wife, Janet, children Jennifer and Kurt, Terra Ceia Island, Florida; and Karl J. and his wife, Elizabeth, children Erik and Alison, Palmetto, Florida; her sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Tom Trunnell as well as many nieces and nephews.
