Taken from a scrapbook compiled by Lois Elaine Anderson Thompson that is located at the Ellsworth Library, Ellsworth, Iowa

Gertrude Evelyn Egland, daughter of Peder and Carrie Egland, was born in Ellsworth on May 11, 1901, and passed away at her home in Brainerd, Minn., on Wednesday, June 17, 1964.

She was united in marriage to Holly Larson of Jewell on June 26, 1917. To this union two children were born: Wanda, Mrs. Tony Buzzini of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Hollis Larson of St. Paul Parks, Minn.

The deceased was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Mrs. Larson leaves to mourn her passing: her husband, one son and one daughter; three grandchildren, Dennis Hunter of Santa Rosa, Calif., and John and Michael Larson of St. Paul Parks, Minn.; four sisters: Mrs. Hubert Spray of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Arnie Thompson of Albert Lea, Minn., Mrs. Herman Christianson and Mrs. Ernest Houck of Radcliffe. Also a stepmother, Mrs. Julia Egland of Jewell.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Waldo.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, June 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Radcliffe Lutheran church with Rev. Jolivette of Jewell, officiating.

Pall bearers were Paul and Gary Houck, Carroll Blome, Durwood Thompson, Keith and Harry Larson. Everett Eike was the soloist.

Interment was made in the cemetery at Randall.
