Arnie R. Thompson, 77, died Wednesday evening February 13, 1980, at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City, Iowa.

Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday from Bethel Lutheran Church, Story City. Rev. Donald Berg will officiate. Morning services will take place 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at Bethany Manor with Rev. Enoch Hall officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Randall.

Mr. Thompson was born November 22, 1902 at Randall to Iver O. and Julia (Okland) Thompson. He married Verda Egland October 17, 1922. They lived in Albert Lea, Minn. for 20 years, farming in the Glenville area. He also worked for the Super Structure Co. He moved to Story City in 1967.

The body will lie in state at Soderstrom-Larson Funeral Home in Story City until time of services.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife Verda; four sons, Durwood Thompson of Muscatine, Kenneth Thompson of Longmont, Colo., Richard Thompson of Carlsbad, Calif., Arthur Thompson of Westminster, Colo.; three brothers, Raymond Thompson of Gilbert, Sherman Thompson of Ames and Irvin Thompson of Portland, Ore.; four sisters, Myrtle Caruth of Story City, Tressie Gohman of Portland, Ore., Alma Lenning of Story City, and Margaret Donhowe of El Toro, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.

Arnie was baptized at the Elim Lutheran Church in Randall and confirmed at the Lanstad Lutheran Church near Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, one daughter and one granddaughter.
