Taken from a scrapbook compiled by Lois Elaine Anderson Thompson that will be found in the Ellsworth Library, Ellsworth, Iowa

Joe Dale Hanson was born February 1, 1932 near Jewell, Iowa to Raymon and Myrtle (Miller) Hanson. He married Joyce Thorson on July 10, 1954.

Joe was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He farmed near Jewell for many years and was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. He greatly enjoyed his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and watching them in their school activities and sporting events.

He is survived by his wife Joyce of Jewell; two daughters, Jill Jacobson and her husband Greg of Jewell and Julie Ullestad and her husband Mark of Jewell; and six grandchildren, Jessica, Brett and Chris Jacobson, Mollie, Trevor and Jared Ullestad; and an aunt Martha Johnson of Ankeny.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jeff Hanson.

He will be buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery at Randall at a later date.
