Myrtle Hanson, 85, rural Jewell, died Friday, Nov. 29, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 2, at the Elim Lutheran church in Randall, Rev John Wogsland officiating. Burial was made in the Mt. Olive cemetery in Randall. The Becker Funeral Home in Jewell was in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle Miller, daughter of Julius and Anna (Larson) Miller, was born Oct. 28, 1906, in Jewell. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bethesda Lutheran church in Jewell. She graduated from the Randall Consolidated School in 1924, then attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. She married Raymon Hanson on Jan. 1, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1936, and since that time she has resided at the farm of her parents, south of Jewell.

She is survived by a son, Joe Hanson, Jewell; two granddaughters, Jill Jacobson and Julie Ullestad, both of Story City; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Brett Jacobson; a sister, Martha Johnson, Ankeny; two brothers, Reuben Miller and Harvey Miller, both of Jewell.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Alvin and Lawrence Miller, a sister in infancy and a grandson, Jeff Hanson.
