THE VERY SAD DEATH OF MRS. JOE MARTIN

Passes Away Eight Days Following Birth of a New Daughter Only 26 Years of Age

Mrs. Joe [Mable Smith] Martin a young woman of twenty-six, passed away at the family home on Third street Monday evening at 6:20. Mrs. Martin gave birth to a daughter eight days ago. Since that time she had been very ill and her death was due to peritonitis.

The death of this young woman is made doubly sad because of the fact that Mr. Martin has been ill with diptheria during all her illness. When but two days old the baby was taken by Mr. Martin's sister, Mrs. Peter Miller of west Second street and is being cared for by its aunt. The child is in perfect health. The young wife and mother also leaves another motherless baby, a girl of two and a half years.

Mrs. Martin was a former Newton girl and the marriage of the couple took place in Newton four years ago, while Mr. Martin was employed in a newspaper office there. She was a charming young woman and a loving wife and mother.
