Joe H. Martin, 69, longtime Webster City resident, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday at the Hamilton county hospital. He had been in ill health the past three years, but more seriously the past two weeks.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. Robert E. Shaw officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Joseph Harrison Martin, son of Joseph and Emma Martin, was born Oct. 23, 1889 at Irving, Kan. When he was two years old, he came with his parents to Webster City and was reared and educated in this community.

He was united in marriage in February, 1913, to Mable Smith, and to this union two daughters were born: Mrs. Morris (Lucille) Dennis of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. William (Louise) Pressley of Rochester, N.Y. His wife preceded him in death in 1918.

He was united in marriage May 5, 1939, to Helen Welch, and to this union was born one daughter, Karen Elaine, at home.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters; one granddaughter, Lynne Alice Pressley; one sister, Mrs. Iva Miller, Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Martin was associated with the Daily Freeman-Journal for many years as a printer and was also employed at the Hahne Printing Co. before he was forced to retire because of his health.
