Mabel Whaley, 90, of Webster City, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Faith United Methodist Church, with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 8:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Mabel Victoria Ankrum, daughter of James and Lucy Lester Ankrum, was born September 30, 1913 on a farm near Kamrar. She received her education at the Mud Hollow rural school and graduated from Webster City high school in 1931. She started working at the Selby Poultry Company. On May 17, 1937, she married Frederick Sterling Bonner at Chicago, Il. The couple resided at Webster City. To this union two daughters were born. She had worked at Morton Frozen Foods and retired from Franklin Manufacturing (Electrolux) in 1977. Mr. Bonner died December 20, 1968. On July 16, 1977, she married Delavan (Del) Whaley at Chicago. The couple resided at Webster City. Mr. Whaley died December 2, 2002. She continued to reside at her home at Webster City.

Mrs. Whaley is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Richard Gaumer of Ottumwa, Susan and Edward Johnson of Woodbury, Ma.; grandchildren, Andy and Adam Rabedeaux; Joe Johnson; Jeffrey, Emily and Laura Gaumer; special friend, Kathryn Johnson of Webster City, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Seymour, William, Alva, Albert, Dilman and Homer Ankrum.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and a lifelong active member involved in various parts of the church operation.
