Mrs. Del (Harriet) Whaley, 62, lifelong Webster City resident, died suddenly Friday afternoon.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Grace United Methodist church with the Rev. Byron D. Surface officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 10 a.m. Tuesday, when it will be taken to the church.

Harriet Ellen Shafer, daughter of George W. and Grace McDaniel Shafer, was born Jan. 16, 1914 at Webster City. She was reared and educated here and was graduated from Webster City high school in 1931, after which she attended Webster City Junior college.

She was married Feb. 12, 1939 to Del Whaley, and the couple had always resided in Webster City She was employed for 32 years as a secretary for the Karr and Karr law office.

She is survived by her husband; three brothers, and three sisters: Henry Lee Schafer, Rochester, Minn., Mrs. Robert (Verla Jeanne) MacCanon of Fort Dodge, George Schafer of Webster City, Phillip Shafer, Lehigh, Mrs. Holger (Florence) Hansen, Williams and Mrs. Ben H. (Margaret) Anderson of Stanhope; and also several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist church and was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
