Delavan "Dell" Whaley, 90, Webster City, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral home from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Masonic rites will be conducted by Acacia Lodge # 176.

Delavan Frederick Whaley, son of Frederick and Nina Bailey Whaley, was born Sept. 12, 1912 at Webster City. He attended Webster City schools, graduating in 1931. On Feb. 12, 1939, he married Harriet Ellen Shafer at Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City. Harriet Whaley died Jan. 23, 1976. On July 16, 1977, he married Mabel Victoria Ankrum Bonner at Chicago, Ill. The couple resided in Webster City. He was a wellknown, longtime plumber, associated with Whaley Brothers Plumbing in Webster City.

Mr. Whaley is survived by his wife, Mabel; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Richard Gaumer of Ottumwa; Susan and Edward Johnson of Woodbury, Minn., grandchildren, Andy and Adam Rabedeaux; Joe Johnson, Jeffrey, Emily and Laura Gaumer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maxine Packard, Helen and Leslie Graham, all of Webster City; Doris and Dean Nelson, Mason City; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by sisters Louise Alexander and Mildred Russell.

He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Acacia Masonic Lodge # 176 AF and AM, Order of Eastern Star, Isaac Walton League, and the Good Sam Club.
