Henry Holdgrafer, 96, longtime resident of the Williams community, died this morning at the Ellsworth Municipal hospital in Iowa Falls where he had been a patient the past two weeks. He had been in failing health for several months.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams. The Rev. Father H. P. Nosbisch will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery at Williams.

Mr. Holdgrafer will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 3 p.m. Wednesday when he will be taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Theresa Walker in Williams. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Walker home in Williams.

Henry Holdgrafer, son of Dietrich and Theresa Holdgrafer, was born Feb. 22, 1868, on a farm in Clinton county, and was reared and educated in that county.

In 1895, he moved to Hamilton county, locating on a farm two and one-half miles northwest of Williams. He was united in marriage June 12, 1900, to Mary Ann Droste, and the couple resided on the family farm northwest of Williams.

His wife preceded him in death Oct. 23, 1950, and since her death he had been making his home with his daughters.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Herman; by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by three sons and four daughters: Dietrich J. Holdgrafer of Webster City, Bernard (Ben) Holdgrafer, Alden, John A. Holdgrafer, Williams, Mrs. Harold (Louise) Maubach, Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. Theresa Walker, Williams, Mrs. Mary Heller, Lewistown, Mont., and Mrs. Thomas (Frances) Crilly, Williams.

Also surviving are 31 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister, John J. Holdgrafer of Williams and Mrs. Cecilia Kimmann, of Clinton.

Mr. Holdgrafer was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church at Williams.
