JEWELL - Floyd L. Olson, 80, died Wednesday at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames following a short illness.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran church in Jewell with Pastor Otto Zwanziger officiating and with burial in Evergreen cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 this evening at the Becker Funeral Home.

Floyd L. Olson, son of Martin and Belle Egland Olson, was born Dec. 8, 1904 at Ellsworth. He attended the Ellsworth school system and worked for a few years at Faribault before coming to the Roland area where he engaged in farming.

In his latter years, he was employed as a truck driver for Alvin Risetter, retiring about 10 years ago.

He was married to Ruth Christian on Oct. 20, 1927 at Faribault.

He is survived by three sons, Jarold Olson of Des Moines, Dean Olson, Huxley and Rick Olson, Valrico, Fla.; two daughters, Betty Clark of Jewell and DeLoris Bergman of Ames; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Milo Olson, Randall, and Clifford Olson of Story City and three sisters, Myra Affalter of Missouri, Genora Larson, Minnesota and Beatrice Grieman of Jewell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, two brothers, one sister and his parents.
