Daily Freeman Journal, Thursday, August 20, 1970

JEWELL - Howard Laverne Olson, 40, died suddenly yesterday while working on a combine at the John Van Langen farm near Blairsburg. Death was attributed to a heart attack. He had been employed by the Jewell Implement Co. for the past 10 years.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran church with the Rev. Norbert Jolivette officiating and with burial in Evergreen cemetery at Jewell.

The body will lie in state at the Becker Funeral home until 1 p.m. Saturday when it will be taken to the church.

He was born Oct. 13, 1939 at Ellsworth, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Olson. He grew to young manhood in the Jewell community.

He was married to Georgia Ann Hanson at Richland, Mo., on Sept. 11, 1951.

He is survived by his wife and five children: Howard, Jr., Linda, Ronald, LaDonna and Brenda; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Olson of Jewell; three brothers and two sisters, Jerold Olson, Des Moines, Dean Olson, Ames, Rickie Olson, Jewell, Mrs. Betty Clark of Jewell and Mrs. Deloris Bergman of Ames.

He was a veteran of the Korean war and was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran church.
