Mrs. Christine Egland, lifelong resident of the Jewell community, died at 6:30 Sunday evening, August 14 at the Boone county hospital following an illness of several years. She had been a patient at a nursing home for five months.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Bethesda Lutheran church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. I. B. Sorenson officiating. Her six grandsons were pallbearers and included Stanley Egland, Glen Egland, Vernon Egland, Kenneth Egland, Russell Barr and Perry Richeson.

Christine Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Olson, was born Jan. 10, 1876 in Denmark and died August 14, 1955 at Boone at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 4 days. She came to Iowa with her parents when she was four years old and lived her entire life in Hamilton county.

She was united in marriage to Carl Egland in 1896 and three children were born to this union. One son, Leonard, preceded her in death, as did her husband and parents. She is survived by one son, Casper of Roland; one daughter, Mrs. Glen Stark of Boone; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was a faithful and active member of Bethesda church.
