Thomas Othello Manion, Sr., the son of Tom and Lucinda Manion, was born Feb. 15, 1878, in Sullivan, Mo. He was reared and educated in Sullivan.

He was married May 21, 1910, to Ruth Stout, and the couple operated a bakery in Cuba, Mo., for two years. In 1912 they moved to Iowa, locating in Blairsburg where he operated a barber shop. In 1913, they moved to Saskatchewan, Canada, where they resided for six months, returning then to Blairsburg, their home since. He re-entered the barber trade, later entering the cafe business in Blairsburg.

He is survived by his wife, three children, Mrs. Ray (Virginia) Hemmen of Webster City; Mrs. John (Dorothy) Gargano of Pierre, S.D., and Thomas Manion, Jr., of Ames, 9 grandchildren; two brothers, Ross of St. Louis and Allen of Miami, Fla., and two sisters, Mrs. J. J. Weiss of Webster City and Mrs. Harry Rommelman of Sullivan, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Ed, Walter and Jess; four sisters, Kate (Mrs. Tom Woodcock), Stella (Mrs. John Woodcock), Bess (Mrs. Otto Kramer), and Carrie (Mrs. A. G. Shillinglaw).

Mr. Manion was a kind and loving husband and father, and leaves a host of friends and relatives.

It is the family's preference that friends so desiring may make memorials to the organ fund of the Congregational church at Blairsburg.
