JEWELL - Funeral services for Bert Reade, 77, longtime Jewell resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Becker funeral home.

The Rev. Mark Wetteland will officiate and burial will be made in the Evergreen cemetery at Jewell.

Mr. Reade died at 10:30 Friday evening at the Vaubel Nursing home in Jewell. He had been ill the past five months.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Curtis Reade, formerly of Webster City and now of Bakersfield, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Lyle Arrasmith, Ames; a sister, Mrs. Marie Bonner, Jewell; a brother, Tom Reade, Jewell; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth, who died in 1902.

[Charles Bert Reade, son of Jeremiah and Mary E. Reade, was born June 4, 1880 at Onslo, Iowa and died October 25, 1957 at Jewell, Iowa at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 21 days.

He was married to Hattie Thoreson on January 19, 1900 at Jewell, Iowa. To this union two children were born.

Survivors are his wife and two children, Mrs. Lyal Arrasmith of Ames, and Curtis A. Reade of Bakersfield, Ca., one sister, Myrtle Bonner, Jewell; and brother, Tom Reade, Jewell; four grandchildren, Mrs. D. R. Petersma of Newton, Daniel Arrasmith of Ames, Curtis Reade, Jr. of Arroyo Grande, Ca., Lynn Del Reade of Bakersfield, Ca., and two great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Kenneth Edward Reade.
