Coronary heart disease yesterday afternoon caused the sudden death of I. V. (Mac) McAlister, 53, resident of this area for the past 35 years. He was found dead about 3 p.m. near a tree he was about to cut down on the Henry Anderson farm four miles southeast of Duncombe. He had been working on a dredging machine, which he had left to chop the nearby tree.

The body was taken to the Terhune funeral home at Jewell. Services are pending.

Iris Vernon McAlister, son of George William and Mattie McAlister, was born Jan. 4, 1893, at Arthur, Ill. He was educated in that community and did construction work there.

At the age of 18, he came to Iowa, where he was employed on a farm near Stanhope. While serving in the armed services, he was married in August, 1918, at Des Moines to Ruth Nielsen. After his release from the army, the couple farmed near Stanhope.

For the past five years he has been in construction work in several states, though he and his wife maintained their home at Kamrar.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, seven children, Loran of Oakland, Calif., Lorraine at home, Mrs. Dale (Izetta) Wilson of Jewell, Iris J., in the armed forces in Germany, Mrs. Carl (Delores) Stookey of Tulsa, Okla., Jimmy Dean and Denis Rodney, at home, four grandchildren and one brother, Erman of Atwood, Ill.
