Bayard E. Holt, 71, of Ellsworth died Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Story City Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth with burial in the Homewood Cemetery at Ellsworth. Friends may call Thursday, Aug. 25 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.

Bayard E. Holt was born March 9, 1917 at Ellsworth to Bardinus and Emilie Olsen Holt.

On April 4, 1942, he married Evelyn Olberg at Northfield, Minn. The couple worked the family farm near Ellsworth. He was also a photographer.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Julie Ahrens of West Union and Mari Kessler of Davenport; one son, Barry, of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren; and one sister, Martha Theresa Holt of Ellsworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

He was president of the Hamilton County Conservation Board, president of the Ellsworth Telephone Association, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Ellsworth and a member of the Ellsworth Kiwanis Club.
