Theresa Holt, 84, Ellsworth, died Friday, Feb. 22, at the Carlisle Care Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Burial will be in the Homewood Cemetery. Visitation at the Becker Funeral Home in Jewell is this afternoon and evening. Memorials may be made to Good News for Israel in Minneapolis, Minn.

Theresa Holt, daughter of Bardinus and Emilie (Olsen) Holt, was born April 25, 1906, in Lincoln Township of Hamilton County. She received her B.A. degree in 1928 from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. She received her M.S. degree in 1947 from Iowa State University in Ames. She also attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Seattle, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Oslo in Norway. Early in her career, she was the girls work secretary at the YWCA in Mason City. She was the Dean of Women at Waldorf College in Forest City, at Wartburg College in Waverly, and at Concordia College in Moorehead, Minn. She taught high school in Ellsworth, Kamrar and Radcliffe. She retired in 1971.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Holt, Carlisle; two nieces, Juliann Ahrens, Decorah, and Marigene Kessler, Carlisle; and a nephew, Barry E. Holt, Austin, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, the National Education Association, Iowa State Education Association, the Iowa and Hamilton County Historical Societies, the American Association of University Women, and the National Council of English Teachers.
