Mrs. Dorothy Joan DeSimone, 69, of 133 Parkway, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 23, 2002 at home.

She was born on August 15, 1933 in Ellsworth, Iowa, a daughter of Thomas and Mamie Sanford Thompson. Dorothy was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth and graduated from Waldorf Academy in Forest City. In 1954, she married Maurice Mills and had two children. In 1972, she married Anthony F. DeSimone in Ascension Lutheran Church in Rome. He passed away on July 3, 1987. Dorothy retired in 1990 from the NY State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Denise L. Mills, Sandpoint, ID, a son, Randall E. Mills; two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Christine and John B. Brown III, Falls Church, VA., and Darlene and Theodore Worlock, Rome; two grandsons, Patrick and Nathaniel Mills; and three step-grandchildren, Sara, Anthony and Luke Worlock; a sister and brother-in-law, Thora and Carrol Reisetter, Ellsworth, IA.; and a sister-in-law, Lois Thompson, Ellsworth, IA.; special friends, Erika Chittum and family, Rome. She was predeceased by a sister, Muriel Melling, and a brother, Robert Thompson.

Dorothy will be sadly missed by her family, friends, neighbors and little backyard friends.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 Saturday morning at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, W. Chestnut St. with Pastor Charles Hanna officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
