Stebbins Rites on Thursday
Funeral services for Mrs. Guy Stebbins, 89, longtime Webster City resident, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. H.C. Perrine officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Mrs. Stebbins died Monday morning at the Crestview Manor in Webster City. She had been in failing health for several years.
Josie Nelson, daughter of Iver and Sara Nelson, was born July 3, 1875, on a farm south of Duncombe. She was reared and educated in the Duncombe community.
She was united in marriage Dec. 18, 1898, to Guy Stebbins, and with the exception of two years when they resided at Mason City, the family had always resided in Webster City, where Mr. Stebbins was employed for many years with the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co.
She is survived by one daughter and one son, Mrs. Gertrude Newman, Webster City, and Ralph Stebbins, Red Oak; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 7, 1953; by her parents, two sisters and four brothers. Mrs. Stebbins was a member of the Church of Christ and was a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge and also a member of the Women’s Relief Corps (Daily Freeman Journal, 23 Mar 1965, 1-2).
