John O. Hall, 83, Webster City, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999 at Southfield Care Center. Memorial services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church in Webster City with Rev. James Buffington officiating. Private burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will from 1-9 p.m Sunday at the Foster Funeral Home.

John O. Hall, son of Forest and Lorene Quackenbush Hall, was born May 18, 1916, at Webster City. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1936. He also attended Tobin Business School, Fort Dodge, and Diesel Mechanic's School in Minnesota. On Sept. 3, 1939, he married Ruth Evelyn Brown at Fort Dodge. The couple resided in Webster City He had worked numerous jobs in the Webster City area involving mechanics and bookkeeping, retiring in 1982 after 14 years of service as Clerk of Court in Hamilton County. Mrs. Hall died Dec. 20, 1993.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Richard Grimm of Waterloo, sons and daughters-in-law, William and Linda Hall, Webster City, Thomas Hall of Muscatine; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mary Desmond of Webster City, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, James, one great-granddaughter and a sister.

He was a member of the Congregational Church, American Legion Post #191, VFW, Izaak Walton League and several camping clubs. Mr. Hall was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
