Ora Benton, 90, Webster City, died March 8, 1997, at Hamilton County Public Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Foster Funeral Home, with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.

Ora Elizabeth Trent, daughter of Alfred and Sarah Smith Trent, was born April 5, 1906, in Maurine, Mo. She was educated in a rural school, south of Blairsburg. On Dec. 24, 1920, she married John Foster Patterson in Webster City. She was a homemaker and the couple resided in Webster City. Her husband preceded her in death in August of 1940. On July 10, 1942, she married Lawrence Boyd Benton in Wisconsin. The couple resided in Webster City, Stratford, and returned to Webster City in 1976. Mr. Benton preceded her in death in April of 1979. She continued to reside in Webster City.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine Barton, Sweet Home, Ore., Annabel and Roy Johnson, Dows, Opal and Shorty Yoder, Woolstock, Gwenath and Jim Anderson, Williams; sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and June Patterson, Sweet Home, Ore., Myron (Pat) and Donna Patterson, Webster City; daughter-in-law, Olive Patterson, Boone; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 24 great- greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by sons, John and Gary Patterson; daughter, Mary Arends; two grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; her parents; and sisters, Charity Sheets and Opal English.
