Gerhard Isebrands, 79, longtime resident of the Kamrar-Jewell community, died Wednesday evening at the Veterans' hospital in Des Moines. He had been in ill health the past two and one-half months.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Edward Masters officiating and with burial at the First Presbyterian cemetery near Kamrar.

Gerhard Isebrands, son of John H. and Trientje Dirks Isebrands, was born July 31, 1891, at Ackley, Hardin county, Iowa, where he was reared and educated. When he was 15 years old, he moved with his parents to Sibley. During World War I, he served with the U.S. Army.

He was united in marriage June 3, 1931 to Grace Greenfield, and the couple farmed near Kamrar until the spring of 1947, moving then to Jewell.

His wife preceded him in death in February, 1966.

He is survived by one son, Floyd Isebrands of Jewell, two grandsons, Mark and Tom Isebrands; three brothers and three sisters: Cassen Isebrands of Sibley, Menno J. Isebrands, Webster City, John C. Isebrands of Des Moines, Mrs. Anna Eilders of Sibley, Mrs. Jennie Buttjer of Rock Rapids, and Mrs. John (Gertie) Jutting of Ackley.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one brother and one sister.

He was a member of the American Legion post at Jewell and the Missionary Alliance church at Blairsburg.
