Daily Freeman Journal, Tuesday, January 23, 1968

Henry J. Hanson, 78, a former resident of the Kamrar-Webster City community, died Monday at the Lake Region hospital, Fergus Falls, Minn.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Tingvold Lutheran church at Underwood, Minn. The body will then be brought to Webster City and will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home from 7:30 p.m. Thursday until the time of services Friday.

Services will be held at 1:30 pm. Friday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Marvin E. Suhr of Newton officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Henry J. Hanson, son of Hans and Julia Hanson, was born Jan. 21, 1890, on a farm in Rose Grove township, Hamilton county. He was reared and educated in the Rose Grove community.

He was united in marriage March 31, 1915 to Tillie Klaver and the couple resided in Kamrar where he was employed in the hardware store.

The couple later moved to Webster City where Mr. Hanson was employed by the former Kayser Ford Motor Co. for several years. He then owned and operated the Hanson D-X Service station here.

In 1949, the family moved to Battle Lake, Minn., where Mr. Hanson owned and operated the Hanson Beauty Beach resort on Deer Lake for 19 years.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter and three sons, Mrs. Paul (Karen) Olson, Lincoln, Neb., Harold Hanson, Elbow Lake, Minn., Lloyd L. Hanson of Newton and Willis J. Hanson of Battle Lake, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and five brothers: Mrs. Ella Colby and Mrs. Kenneth Day, both of Seattle, Wash., Alfred, Antone, Selmer, Arthur and Gerber Hanson, all of Gwinner, N.D., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, George H. Hanson, and a granddaughter, Sandra Olson.

Mr. Hanson was a member of the Tingvold Lutheran church at Underwood, Minn.
