Keith Alan Hoff was born July 27, 1952, the son of Ted and Patricia Hoff. He grew up in Ames, and graduated from Ames High School in 1970. During and after high school, Keith worked for his dad at the Ames Bottling Company/Dr. Pepper Bottling Company. He also worked for Story Construction. Keith possessed excellent carpentry skills and loved to build things, including his home of 35 years in Gilbert. Until the time of his death, Keith worked for more than 30 years for the city of Ames Electric Services.

Keith died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014. A gathering to commemorate the life of this wonderful man will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. A sharing of memories will be at 2 p.m.

Everyone knew Keith Hoff as a giant of a man — both in stature and through his kind and caring nature. Keith was very generous as evidenced by his many quiet deeds and his helping others with building projects and advice. Two of his strongest attributes were his love of family and his sense of humor, which caused many a smile. Keith loved nature and also like to hunt, fish and try out new gadgets. Most of all, he liked to spend time at Black Hawk Lake with family and friends.

Keith was the rock of his family and will be greatly missed by his wife, An’Nyce, children and grandchildren, Ryan and Jill Hoff (Calan and Weston), James and Sara Hoff (Payton and Kendal), Jennifer and Chris Jones, Jim and Mariah Doolittle (Porter) and Libby and Ethan Anderson (Max and Hallie).

Keith is survived by his siblings, Kathy Docken, Kevin Hoff, Kent Hoff, Kirk Hoff and Kyle Hoff.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Karen; one brother, Karl, and his son, Michael.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
