The Jewell Record- section of the Stanhope Record, Thursday, January 7, 1924

Bertha Granville was born at Voss, Norway, March 25, 1843. She was the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. J.J. Granville. She was married in Norway in 1873 to Martin Ringheim, and that same year on July 2, 1873, she came with her husband to America, and made their home at Newark, Illinois.

On June 1, 1887, after an illness of 12 years, her husband died leaving her very sad and lonely. Shortly after the death of her husband she took up her residence with her brother, O. J. Granville. She had no children of her own, but she lavished her mother love upon her brother’s children, Hilman, Albert and Martin, as their mother died when they were small.

She moved with her brother and family to Stanhope, Iowa, in 1899, where she made her home until death, which occurred January 6, 1924, at 10 o’clock p.m., at the age of 80 years, 9months and 11 days. The cause of her death was due to old age, and heart trouble. Mrs. Ringheim has been a sufferer the past five years; the last few years she was bedfast constantly.

She leaves to mourn her death, one brother and one sister in Norway. Also several nieces and nephews in America and in Norway.

The funeral was held January 10, 1924 at 12 o’clock at the Lutheran church, the church of her faith. The services were in charge of Rev. Hans Oppedal. The pall bearers were six of her nephews: Hilman, Albert and Martin Granville, of Stanhope; Lewis and Ervin Lund of Jewell; and Martin Lund of Story City. Interment took place at the Lawn Hill cemetery.
