Edward W. Arends, 72, died Wednesday afternoon while enroute to the Story City Memorial Hospital, after having suffered a heart attack at his home.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 at the Bethesda Lutheran church with the Rev. Norman FrerKing officiating and with burial in the church cemetery at Kamrar.

Visitation will be tonight at the Becker Funeral home until shortly before the time of service.

Edward W. Arends was born Dec. 23, 1910, northeast of Kamrar, the son of Tena Fonken and Arend T. Arends.

On Sept. 18, 1953 he was married to Velma Wilhite at Albert Lea, Minn., and the couple farmed in the Clear Lake area until 1957 when they moved to Jewell.

He is survived by his wife; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Arland (Jeri) Greenfield of Jewell; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Minnie) Klaver of Kamrar and Mrs. Earl (Luella) Soop of Webster City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Daniel and George.

He was a member of the Kamrar Presbyterian church.
